GARGOYLE, GROTESQUE, OR CHIMERA?
Traditionally, a gargoyle is a human or animal figure whose function is as a column support or as a rain spout to draw water away from a roof or wall
of a building. A grotesque is a gargoyle with added humorous or 'grotesque' features. On the other hand, a chimera is typically a small statue of an unusual animal mixture but is for decoration only and does not act as a support or rain spout. Je ne savais pas que! (I didn't know that!) |
