I'LL TAKE DOOR NUMBER . . .
For most residences and many businesses in Paris, the door is the only thing visible from the street. While there may be a small sign, and more than likely a street number, generally there are few clues to let you know what's behind the door. Yet, behind many lie lovely courtyards surrounded by multi-level, private residential apartments. Or, as in the hôtel particuliers, the door may lead to a grand courtyard and a single family residence built centuries ago. Still other doors lead to a simple foyer of a multi-residence apartment building. Regardless, the doors of Paris became a photographic fascination for me. Equally fascinating were the knobs and knockers that adorned many of the doors.

& EVEN MORE: ART NOUVEAU FACADE
3 SQUARE RAPP
I found this art nouveau gem just a few blocks
from our Hotel Londres Eiffel in the 7th arrondissement.
I suppose it's written up in the guidebooks,
but there is something exciting about discovering such sights on your own.
For more of Paris hidden in plain view,
be sure to view the page entitled, 'Jour 5-Images from the Hood.'
